Wedding fun

Just for fun, I thought you might enjoy a couple wedding tidbits that make me smile every time I see them...

The first one I ran across on Pinterest. It cracks me up every time I see it:

Those guys nailed it in impersonating a bunch of girls, didn't they? Love it!!!

And the JK Wedding Entrance Dance? You've probably seen it before on YouTube, but it's worth another look. And if you haven't seen it, get ready for a real treat. I smile all the way through it...then when Jill makes her appearance....well....I choke up every time.

Our son's wedding is coming up this summer, so weddings are definitely on my mind!

Crocheted butterfly

Isn't she pretty?

I bought a box of doilies at an auction a couple years ago. When I went through them at home, I was excited to find this butterfly among them!

I wanted to frame her, but didn't have anything big enough. Every once in a while, I'd get a bigger frame, ane would try, but it was never quite right. Last week, I was going through some of the frames I had at the store for sale, and saw this one. Aha! Finally found it!

It's hard to get a good picture of something under glass at the store. I get more reflections of the lights than anything else. So, I decided to just take a picture of it in our yard. In real life, the butterfly doesn't have reflections of trees around it like you see here. Nice touch though, don't you think?

Damage from a hit and run driver

The shop is closed on Monday & Tuesday, so after I left on Saturday, I wasn't back in till yesterday... Wednesday. This is what greeted me:

This is the back of our store building. The steps lead up to the second floor. The concrete wall is a fire wall between us and the bar next door.

As you can see, someone hit it from the bar side, knocking the concrete blocks over onto our stairs.

The bottom landing and the steps coming down from it are destroyed. We can see a little damage on the main steps, but we're hoping they are still stable. We won't know for sure till we get the blocks moved today.

The worst part? It was a hit and run. We have no idea who did it. Though we have a very good idea of where they came from.

The only people who park back there are people who go to the bar. It only holds a car or two, it's not a customer parking lot.

As the police officer who came said, "it never ends."

Kevin's Perfect Timing

Katie's (our soon to be daughter-in-law) mother and sisters had a bridal shower for her in her hometown last weekend. We enjoyed getting a chance to know her family better, and seeing where she grew up.

They opened the shower by going around the room, and having all the ladies say who they were, and how they know Katie. A nice touch, especially for me and Jessica since we didn't know most of the ladies there.

The introductions went around the room, till it got to Katie.

She laughed and said, "I'm Katie, and I'm marrying Kevin".

And from out in the hallway we hear:

"And I'm Kevin."

And in he came, carrying a bouquet of flowers for his bride.

Say it all together now....."awwww".

You know how sometimes you see something, and you think "that had to be staged"?

It wasn't. He had the flowers, and was very nervous about how to walk in on a shower to surprise her with them. He had just got there, had walked down the hall, and heard what was going on. He waited a minute, and when he heard Katie's voice, he knew he had his moment.

Awwww.

Way to go Kevin!!!

Doors Turned into Coat Hangers

One of these days, I'll remember to take before pictures. But this isn't one of those days.

After the 2 doors were finished, I did think to at least turn one over and show the back. That gives a good idea of what it looked like. The doors are the modern presswood - you know - the furniture that comes in a box with a handful of screws. Bookcases, entertainment centers, etc.

I picked the doors up on a junkin' trip, having no idea what I would do with them.

I still didn't know when I laid them out on sawhorses, but then it hit me.
Coat hangers.

The first one is barn red, with family and friends written out in what used to be the windows. I left the glass in, and mod podged wallpaper onto the glass.

On the second one, I used a garden theme wallpaper border. I think it would look great in a mudroom. Please excuse the blurry picture. I really need to get a new camera.

The hooks don't show up real well, but there are 3 coat hooks on each one. They are rather heavy since they still have the glass in them, and I don't have a spot in the store to hang them, thus they are just propped against the counter in the store for the photos.

I love how they came out! From modern junky presswood to distressed country!

Combining Vintage Items into New Treasures

Reminiscing... One of our favorite things to create when we had our shop was combos. We would look around our stash of vintage items, and in...
