We had the most fun riding the rails in Frostburg, MD on their Tracks and Yaks for their Christmas Lights ride.
I got the honor of riding with John on his birthday adventure.
Pappy rode with Grace.
It took Katie several tries to get us all in a selfie in the dark, but this one turned out pretty good.
The trip was 2.5 miles long and took around half an hour.
Most of their trips are longer, and you sit in these cars and pedal.
On this shorter Christmas trip, the chains weren't even attached, and we just sat back and enjoyed the view.
This was one of the coolest spots as we passed underneath a tunnel of lights.
Homes along the route also decorated with lights, and Christmas music coming through speakers on the train made for a very festive evening.
Dress warm! It was quite chilly, especially the further we went. It was a relatively warm (for winter in the mountains) evening, and I started out without a without my earmuffs, but it wasn't long before I put them on.
Workers were seated here and there to operate the brakes, and at the end of the ride, we got off and walked down the hill to a bus that was waiting to take us back to the old train depot.
We are looking forward to going back in the spring or summer and taking one of the longer trips in the daylight.
Such a unique adventure!
